Celebrating 25 Years of Music and Dance

As part of our 25th Anniversary celebrations, Echoes of the Bandoneón honours the Club’s deep connection with live tango music—from early local ensembles like Tango 22 and Perth Tango Ensemble, to recent highlights including Orquesta Romántica Milonguera (virtually during COVID) and the Mendoza Quartet at last year’s Festival.

This special night continues that legacy—blending memory, music, and movement in a rich celebration of our past and future.

The Gala Milonga

Saturday, 19 July | from 7:30PM - Till Late

Experience a powerful evening of live tango featuring both international and local stars.

Our featured performers are Revenge Tango – the dynamic Buenos Aires duo of:

Adolfo Trepiana – Acclaimed bandoneonist, composer, and musical director with over 30 international tours. Known for his bold, bandoneón style, he has performed with La Juan D’Arienzo, Tanghetto, and performed at all the famous Bunueos Aires milongas.

Luciano Steffanoli – A classically trained Argentine pianist whose passion for tango and folklore has taken him around the world, including several seasons as a musical director aboard Royal Caribbean.

Joining them are two of Perth’s most beloved tango artists:

Emily Gelinea – Violin
A long-time collaborator with Perth Tango Club, Emily brings emotional depth and exceptional versatility to every performance. Her musical palette spans jazz, pop, flamenco, Middle Eastern music—and of course, tango. She adds brilliant colour to every arrangement, making her an integral part of this evening’s soundscape.

Marco – Vocals
Born in Rosario, Argentina, Marco is a familiar and much-loved voice at Perth Tango Club. His warm, expressive tenor and heartfelt interpretations of classic tango lyrics always strike a chord. Whether fronting a full orchestra or blending into smaller collaborations, he brings authenticity and soul.

DJ Alejandro will complete the evening with traditional tandas to keep the floor moving, closing with a few modern gems to see out the night in style.

Musicality Workshop: Unlock the Music in Your Dance

Saturday, 19 July | 2:00–3:30PM
Perth Tango Club | $35 members | $45 non-members

This is not a dance class—it’s a 90-minute deep dive into tango music.

Using live instruments (bandoneón and piano), Adolfo and Luciano will explore the musical architecture of tango’s great orchestras: D’Arienzo, Pugliese, Di Sarli, and Troilo.

You’ll learn:

  • How phrasing, rhythm, and orchestration influence your movement

  • What to listen for to make your dancing more expressive and connected

  • How to recognise the character of each orchestra and respond with your own style

Ideal for dancers, DJs, musicians, and tango lovers who want to deepen their musical connection and move with feeling—not just rhythm.

A Night of Collaboration and Celebration

This event is more than a performance—it’s a musical conversation across continents, celebrating the Club’s 25-year commitment to live music, cultural exchange, and community spirit.

With international stars and Perth favourites sharing the stage, Echoes of the Bandoneón promises a night of tango you won’t want to miss—full of passion, talent, and connection.
