A Musical Christmas Milonga (Sat 16 Dec)

This Christmas, we have a very special treat in store - a musical celebration! The Perth Tango Orchestra will be a 10-piece orchestra featuring three bandoneons and a singer

Joining them are two talented bandoneon playersStephen Cuttriss and Amy Lynch, from the Melbourne Tango Orchestra, accompanied by Danilo de Paz (Perth) with his bandoneon. This is a truly exceptional opportunity to experience live bandoneons in a full orchestra.

Furthermore, our popular DJs Helene and Jorge will be teaming up for a double DJ act for the night. We will also be serving authentic paella throughout the evening, catered by La Tapa Loca

Dress code: dress smart Christmas red, green or white!

We anticipate this event will be a sell-out, so be sure to grab your tickets early!

Stephen Cuttriss, a leading proponent of the bandoneón in Australia, skillfully explores the mystique of this enigmatic instrument that originated in 19th century Germany and evolved into the quintessential sound of Argentinian tango. Beyond traditional tango, his versatile performances span from Bach to Ástor Piazzolla, showcasing the bandoneón's diverse moods. As a soloist, Stephen collaborates with notable classical figures like the Nexas Quartet and pianist-composer Daniel Rojas. Co-founder and director of the Mendoza Tango Quartet and Melbourne Tango Orchestra, he graces stages across Australia, including prestigious festivals such as Orange Chamber Music Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, and Brisbane Festival.

Amy Lynch is a musician and teacher based in Melbourne, who specialises in Latin American music. In 2006 she graduated from the Tasmanian Conservatorium with a Bachelor of Music, majoring in classical piano performance. After three years of living abroad in South America and studying music in Buenos Aires, Amy took up the accordion and bandoneon.  In 2017, she returned to Argentina to study arranging and bandoneon with maestro Rodolfo Mederos and on her return became a founding member of Australia’s Orquesta Tipica, the Melbourne Tango Orchestra. Amy has made various interstate tours and has played in national music festivals such as the National Folk Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival, MONA and Cygnet Folk Festival amongst others.
