  Come join us every Friday night to finish the working week, meet up with friends and dance a tanda or two at the Tango Café. The atmosphere is a vibrant mix of Nuevo (20%) and mostly traditional music (80%).  The setting and lighting is cafe style, where you can join with others to mix and mingle. Everyone is welcome at the Tango Café.

Traditional tangos with nuevo music are played in tandas without cortinas.  This is an open and free-for-all practice space where the line of dance is not necessarily enforced.   Práctica de los domingos is open every Sunday afternoon 3-5pm. The atmosphere is very welcoming. Kim is the host and Dj. A mix of traditional and nuevo tangos are played in tandas without cortinas. This is an open and free-for-all practice space where the line of dance is not enforced.  There is space for practicing your underlying technique, or figures. There are also mirrors. A wide spectrum of music is played at Nuevo Ghetto including not only tango nuevo, but also lounge and world music.  We allow our Dj's to be creative and experiment with all the different music genre. The hall lighting is dynamic, similar to a club. They are on the 3rd Saturday of the month. Entrance for members is $5 and $10 for Non-Members.   Thursdays 7.00 - 8.30pm

  Tango Basics is an 8-week dance class for adults, covering the basic movements, structure and music of Argentine tango. This class is ideal for beginners, no previous experience is required. No partner is required, but couples are most welcome. These lessons are also useful for dancers who are coming back to tango after a long break, or want to revisit the basic elements of tango.

  Tango Basics covers the following elements: walking, turning, stopping, navigation, musicality and some embellishments. After this course, students will be able to participate and navigate a milonga (i.e. a social dance).  The eighth lesson will close with a social "graduation" dance (called a milonga) finishing at 11pm.

  

  Fee: $110 per person for 8 weeks. The fee also includes Club membership which offers reduced fees for Club events and free parking (during Club events). Members pay $65.

  Course Registration: Arrive at 7 pm Thursday for registration. New registrations will only be allowed for the first two weeks into the course. 

  Taste of Tango: From 7.00 to 7.30 pm a Taste of Tango session provides an obligation-free introduction to tango for people who drop in to try it out. The class follows on immediately after, from 7.30 – 8.30 pm. If you are available though, our teachers encourage you attend from 7.00 pm for an extra bonus half hour of tango dancing.
  

  Dress: Comfortable neat casual clothes.  Dance shoes are preferable; however you will need shoes that allow you to freely pivot on your feet.  Rubber sole shoes are not good for dancing as they can hurt the knees.

  Hygiene: Argentine tango is a close embrace dance, hence the need for good personal hygiene to make the experience enjoyable.

  Instructors: Your instructors are Marzena  and Mike, both are experienced dancers and have been running this course for over 5 years. 

  Guided Practice: The Club also offers practise sessions called "practica". These run on Tuesday evenings 7-9:30 pm and Sundays afternoons between 3 to 5 pm.  We encourage our students to take the opportunity to attend these to cement the key elements of the lessons into muscle memory and to get to know your follow students and other Club members.

  TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  Event Cancellation

  We hope everything runs smoothly — but if we do have to cancel part or all of the event, we’ll refund your ticket in full or pro-rata (depending on what’s affected), minus transaction processing fees. Please note: refunds apply to ticket prices only. We can’t cover any other costs like travel or accommodation.

  Refunds

  You can get a full refund (minus a $10 transaction fee) if you cancel on or before 8 January 2026.

  From 9 January to 31 March 2026, we’ll consider refund requests case by case. If approved, you’ll receive a 50% refund of the ticket price (less fees). From 1 April 2026 onwards, tickets are non-refundable. All refund requests must be made in writing to the organisers — just send us a quick message explaining your situation.

  Privacy

  When you buy a ticket, we’ll add your email and phone number to our list so we can keep in touch about this and future PTC events. We’ll never share your details or use them for anything else.
